Calendar of Fire Prevention (January Edition)



1. COMMON FIRE PREVENTION MEASURES

EMERGENCY CALL
a. In case of fire, immediately call the nearest Fire Station.
b. Teach your children how to get emergency help.

CANDLES AND LAMP
a. Do not leave a lighted candles or lamps unattended.
b. Do not set them too close to the curtain or other objects that easily catch fire.

CIGARETTES
a. Never smoke in bed
b. Do not throw smoldering butts into waste basket. Crush them thoroughly before discarding it.

PROTECT YOUR HOME FROM WILDFIRE
a. Create a safety zone around your home by clearing flammable vegetation.
b. Keep your roof clear of leaves and other combustible materials.
c. Discuss Community fire safety with your neighbors.

FULL STORAGE
a. Store only a small amount of gasoline in an approved safety container outside the home.
b. Use it as a motor fuel only, not fore cleaning.

MATCHES OR LIGHTERS
a. Tell your children that matches and lighters are tools not a toy.
b. Store all matches and lighters yp high, preferably in a locked cabinet.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a. Don't overload extension cords or run them under rugs.
b. Replace any cord that is cracked or frayed. If an appliance smokes or has a unusual smell, unplug it and have it repaired by a professional.
c. Use the proper size of fuses in your fuse box.

WINDOW GRILLS
a. Use bar which have a quick release mechanism that everyone3 in the fmily can operate.
b. Provide window grill openings in every bedroom.

PLAN YOUR ESCAPE
a. have an escape plan that includes two ways out of each room and a meeting place outside and away with the whole family at least twice a year.
b. Practice it with the whole family at least twice a year.

ESCAPE TIPS DURING FIRE
a. If you encounter smoke on your way out of a fire, use your second way out instead.
b. If you must escape through smoke, crawl low under the smoke to your exit.
